What’s in a name?
Everything! When I first started as a massage therapist, I had many people say that I healed them. For the longest time, I struggled with that. I might have been a vessel, but the word healing bothered me. Many times we think of healing as immediate or instantaneous. But many times, that is not always the case.
My first business name was Restore Massage and Bodywork Therapies. “Restore” means to bring back to original condition - or you could say to heal. Massage and bodywork was “the how” to the healing.
Since re-branding our business to Restoration Holistic Wellness Center, I’ve thought more about the breakdown of each of these words.
Restoration: the process of being restored. This tells me that it is a continual happening, a process.
Holistic: parts being interconnected, seeing the person or animal as a whole.
Wellness: the state of being in good health or actively pursuing a goal.
Center: refers to a place of activity. It’s where the action takes place through the various businesses that have chosen to call RHWC their home.
Usually by the time a client comes to us, they are in pain and have exhausted most medical options. We remind them to stick with us through the ups and down of implementing the action. With PEMF, we recommend that you give us at least 3 sessions. With massage, if you don’t have any major issues, a standing monthly appointment is great. However, if in injury or high stress environment bring you to us, you would probably need a shorter duration between sessions, weekly or bi weekly, then we work towards the goal of a maintenance schedule.
These guidelines apply to our animals as well! PEMF and massage is great for freeing up muscle tension in our horses, cattle, pigs and dogs. At Restoration Holistic Wellness Center, we want to help you to actively pursue your goals to better wellness by resting the body, mind, and soul!
Till Next Time,
Erica
